The International Copper Association (ICA) is pleased to welcome Marcobre S.A.C., operator of Peru’s Mina Justa copper mine, as its newest member, strengthening ICA’s global network advancing copper’s role in the energy transition.

ICA is the voice of copper, promoting its value, protecting its markets, and strengthening demand for a material that is essential to electrification, clean energy technologies, and modern infrastructure. ICA’s membership spans six continents and represents more than half of global copper production.

Marcobre operates the world-class Mina Justa copper mine in Peru’s Ica region. The company has established itself as a leading producer of responsibly sourced copper while prioritizing and strong partnerships with local communities. Mina Justa produces both copper concentrate and high-purity copper cathodes. It was designed with innovative features such as the use of seawater in its processing operations to reduce demand for freshwater resources.

“Marcobre’s commitment to responsible mining, innovation, and sustainable growth reflects the values that unite ICA’s membership,” said Juan Ignacio Díaz, President and CEO of the International Copper Association and Steve Rowland, Chair of ICA. “Together, we will continue demonstrating how copper is essential to building a sustainable world.”

Joining ICA connects Marcobre with a global network of copper producers, fabricators, and industry partners working to promote copper demand. Their addition further expands ICA’s global membership and reinforces the association’s mission to champion copper as the material of choice for a sustainable future.

“We are proud to join the International Copper Association and collaborate with industry leaders dedicated to advancing the future of copper,” said Luis Sánchez, General Manager Marcobre. ” Through this membership, we look forward to sharing knowledge, supporting innovation, and contributing across the global copper value chain.”
