The International Copper Association (ICA) welcomed the decision by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to renew its research partnership with metals associations aimed at strengthening scientific understanding of metals and aquatic life.
Since 2017, the collaboration has supported science-based water quality decisions by helping ensure that regulatory discussions are informed by the best available scientific data.
“On behalf of the copper industry, the International Copper Association and the Copper Development Association, we look forward to continued collaboration with our EPA partners to support and advance the best available science evaluating safe levels of copper in water,” said Erin Smith of the Copper Development Association and Louise Assem of the International Copper Association.
The renewed partnership highlights the importance of collaboration between regulators and industry in advancing science-based environmental policy and supporting responsible copper stewardship.
