This year, 40 young professionals joined ICA for three days of learning, discussion and networking. For the first time, Copper College brought together participants from across ICA’s membership, including Aurubis, Atlantic Copper, Boliden, Glencore, Rio Tinto and Mitsubishi Materials.

Over three days, participants explored the copper industry from multiple perspectives, including global market dynamics, emerging technologies, the copper life cycle, responsible production frameworks such as The Copper Mark, EU climate legislation, communications, and the strategic challenges and opportunities shaping the industry.

The second edition marks another important milestone in ICA’s efforts to strengthen member-exclusive knowledge sharing and foster dialogue across the copper industry. It also supports ICA’s broader mandate to promote, protect and defend copper and its essential contribution to electrification, digitalization, sustainability and development.

Bringing Copper Expertise Together

The program was made possible through the support of Aurubis and the many experts who contributed their time and knowledge.

ICA extends a special thank you to Tanja Winter, Renata Fuschini, Katharina Brehmeier and ICA Knowledge Director Hans De Keulenaer for their work organizing the program.

ICA member speakers who shared their expertise throughout the three days included Dr. Cornel Abratis, Anastasiia Khmilevska, Tobias Kuhm, Martin Sjoberg, Jan Dewenter, Andrea Vaccari and Pablo Urzúa.

ICA colleagues and experts also contributed to sessions throughout the program, including Juan Ignacio Diaz, Louise Assem, Richard Xu, Joe Zhou, Hans De Keulenaer, Géraud Servin, Anna-Maria Karjalainen, Ignacio Gentiluomo, Bernardo Nascimento, Víctor Pérez and Ladji Tikana.

Most importantly, ICA thanks the 40 participants whose curiosity, commitment, questions and energy made the second Copper College a rewarding experience.

Looking Ahead

The Copper College community continues to grow, bringing together the next generation of professionals from across ICA’s membership to learn from one another, exchange ideas and strengthen connections throughout the copper industry.

ICA looks forward to the next edition of Copper College.
