A sustainable material shaping a sustainable future
Copper’s natural properties—from its durability to high conductivity—make it the material of choice for the green transition, contributing to solutions for modern climate challenges. Driven by the clean energy transition, copper demand is expected to double by 2050.However, demand must be met responsibly. Copper—Pathway to Net Zero and the Modern Mine showcase how innovative mining practices can contribute to sustainable development, reduce carbon emissions and diminish the impact of mining activities on the environment. The Copper Mark®, initially created by ICA but now a separate and independent organization, is a responsible production assurance framework that assesses the environmental and social performance of production sites. More than 20 percent of global copper production is now covered by The Copper Mark.
