PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, (AMMAN), one of Indonesia’s largest copper and gold mining companies, has officially joined the International Copper Association (ICA), becoming its first member headquartered in Southeast Asia.
ICA is the voice of copper globally, working to promote its value, protect its markets, and strengthen demand as a key material for a sustainable future. The association comprises 40 members across six continents, representing over 50% of global copper production.
The membership underscores AMMAN’s commitment to responsible copper production and to supporting copper’s role in electrification and the global energy transition. AMMAN’s participation brings Indonesia’s perspective into global discussions on the future of copper. As Southeast Asia’s largest economy, Indonesia is playing an increasingly important role in regional and global supply chains.
Naveen Chandralal, Director of AMMAN, stated that joining ICA is a strategic step, following the company’s transformation across the copper value chain. “As the first ICA member from Southeast Asia, we are proud to bring Indonesia’s perspective to global conversations on copper’s future. This membership provides a platform to share best practices, engage on sustainability priorities, and collaborate with ICA members to meet growing global demand for copper—responsibly and transparently.”
Steven Rowland, Chair of ICA, and Juan Ignacio Diaz, CEO of ICA, welcomed AMMAN’s membership. “We are pleased to welcome AMMAN to ICA. Their focus on advancing mining technology through innovation, efficiency, and sustainability reflects a strong commitment to strengthening copper’s role in a rapidly evolving world. We look forward to our growing partnership as we continue to expand our voice as the leading authority on copper.”
AMMAN’s membership comes at a crucial moment in its transformation, marked by the completion of its transition into a fully integrated mining-to-refining company, following the commencement of operations at its new smelter and precious metal refinery. This milestone strengthens AMMAN’s position across the copper value chain.
Over the past nine years, AMMAN has fundamentally transformed every aspect of its business, leveraging digital innovation to become one of the world’s most efficient mining companies while embedding global best practices in governance, safety, diversity, and sustainability across its operations.
