Quentin de Hults is the Director of the Green & Healthy Buildings (GHB) program in Europe and leads the GHB advocacy efforts for the European Copper Institute (ECI) through engagement with key policymakers in the EU. His longstanding experience in energy efficiency, sustainability and fire safety in construction includes work on topics such as the Clean Energy Package, sustainability assessment standards in construction, the Product Environmental Footprint and the Fire Information Exchange Platform.
He worked with the European Parliament to mandate an EU Commission pilot project on fire statistics, which identified relevant policy measures to improve fire safety, including electrical safety. Because 50 percent of accidental domestic fires have an electrical source, Quentin and his team at ECI are working with EU policy makers to develop electrical inspection regimes. Trained as a mechanical engineer, Quentin believes that fighting climate change is the biggest duty of his generation.
